Rhamnolipids-based nanostructured lipid carriers: Effect of lipid phase on physicochemical properties and stability

In this work rhamnolipids were evaluated as surfactants for the production of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs). NLCs produced by melt-emulsification using ultra-homogenisation followed ultrasonication and different ratios medium-chain-triglycerides glycerol monostearate (lipid phase) tested. presented sizes polydispersity index values ranged between 97 120 nm 0.20–0.26, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy observations confirmed size spherical morphology NLCs. The thermal analysis X-ray diffraction showed that amount solid (glycerol monostearate) influences melting, crystallisation enthalpy their degree crystallinity. Results more stable at 4 °C best formulation (1% water phase, 0.05% biosurfactant solid:liquid ratio 10:90) was 30 days. This possibility to produce represent an important step development lipid-based nanosystems biosurfactants.
